KUALA LUMPUR - MALAYSIA
After a short but interesting bus ride we (Phil is behind me with his thumb up on the photo above) arrived in Kuala Lumpur and our small but clean modern and very social hostel.
Exploring the town we couldn't believe the size of the shopping centers and the fact one had a big rollercoaster on the top floor. The city overall was very modern and not what I expected from Asia.
The following day we went out to explore again and got hit by the strongest tropical storm I had ever known. Within an hour the city streets were knee deep in water. It was one of them days you are glad the hostel had a pile of DVDs
The Petronas towers were an impressive sight and a bit strange to see in real life after seeing so many pictures of them during my research back home. You can go inside but only as far up as the sky bridge about a third of the way up.
I didn't bother with the twin towers and went to the top of the Kuala Lumpur towers instead the view was impressive.
The plan was to stay a few more days but Phil was moving on to north Thailland and the hostel I was at was booked up solid. So I had a mad evening trying to book flights and accommodation.
Next stop was Borneo................................
