ADELAIDE - AUSTRALIA

Second stop on the Australia section of my world trip was Adelaide, this time I was in the city center and there was plenty of shade from the tall buildings so you could walk round for longer. Had Margaret to visit but didn't get through to her for a couple of days as she was being pestered by telemarketing sales people and not answering her phone.
When I finally got through to her I went on the train to visit about half an hour south of the city center. She had a massive house in a quiet suburb that was well located next to a train station. She offered me room for Wednesday and Thursday night as I had already paid the hostel until Tuesday night.
At the hostel itself I had 2 of the most inconsiderate room mates I had ever come across. The first one was an Indian who was working there who made loads of noise and thought nothing of turning the lights on at 5am when everyone else was sleeping. One night I went in with a flashlight making every effort to be quiet and he walked in behind me and just put all the lights on.
The second one was a fat, fuzzy haired Canadian who did nothing except eat, sleep and sit in front of his laptop screen. Now this person smelled that bad you had to have the window open at night. Whenever I mentioned it in conversation downstairs the person instantly knew I was in room 106 so it was common knowledge. Since the hostel obviously knew about it and did nothing I wrote a critical review about it on hostel. A few weeks later in Melbourne I met a girl who had avoided that hostel because of the review I had written.
On my last full day in Adelaide I spent the morning help a friend of Margaret put up a table, Then we went out for a meal at a country pub further south, her friend who drove couldn't see properly out of her left eye and was probably over the drink drive limit on the way back. While we were there we spent at least a couple of hours on the dreaded pokie machines. They must be the most boring form of gambling ever. Unlike the fruit machines at home there are no holds, skill games, features etc. All you can do is choose the number of lines to play and your stake per line. After that its just press the button and watch.........
Overall I was disappointed with Adelaide, I don't know why as it was a nice clean city but there was something about it that made it my least favorite city in Australia
Friday morning I got the plane to Hobart, back on familiar ground.......
