MELBOURNE - AUSTRALIA

I had no reason to visit Melbourne because of the amount of time I spent there in 2004. It was still my favourite city and hard to resist going back. I somehow picked one of the most difficult times to go there as everywhere was nearly full because of the tennis that was on.

I stopped the first night at Base Backpackers in St Kilder (the same place as 2004) had a good night there aas they had a live band on. Then I had to move back into the city center, ended up back at All nations as per 2004.

The hostel was still a bit of a dump but still also one of the best places for meeting other backpackers. Everyone had the same plan....party Saturday, rest Sunday and go out all day on the Monday for Australia day.

On the Monday morning I arrived back from the shop to discover all my things had been moved out of my dorm room. The idiots at reception had put me in the computer for 2 nights instead of 3, this was not the best start to the day!!!!

Australia day was a great day out after that, everywhere was packed out full of people. I was with 3 Germans for most of the day. We got some vodka put it in a coke bottle and sat by the river.

Fencing went down ok until I got hit on the arm and cut despite the fact they were only plastic blades. We were going to head out around the city at night but didn't bother in the end.

The following day was another rest day, I was catching the night bus to Sydney so I sat around waiting all day. The bus driver was in a very bad mood I seen him throwing a bag into the bus that had a big "fragile" sign on the side.

It was a sleepless 12 hour bus ride to Sydney...................
