FALIRAKI - GREECE PART 2

When it has ever come to foreign holidays there are 2 areas in which I'm always lost. The first is sunbathing, I just don't do it and wouldn't see the point if I lived for a thousand years. Despite being in Rhodes at the hottest part of the year I came home not much browner than when I went.

The second was water, I can't swim and wouldn't jump in a swimming pool for all the money on earth. I got more than a little annoyed being asked the same question "are you coming in the pool" day after day. I made it very clear on the first day that I didn't like water so I couldn't get what they were trying to achieve asking me on the second week.

During the daytime I was a bit lost to say the least sitting in the shade while everyone else jumped in the pool or lay around on the sun loungers. However I knew that was going to happen long before I went and accepted it as an unavoidable part of the holiday. We did do a few things during the daytime, a couple of times we went down to Rhodes town and once all of us went go karting which was good.

The heat however got all of us down after about a week, I remember not eating a full meal in the entire 2 weeks I was there. Our apartment was on top of a hill so opening the windows at night you couldn't sleep because of the noise of the wind. Close the windows and it was too hot, then there was my sleep pattern of waking up early thanks to getting up to do a milkround at 3:30am 3 mornings a week. I would often be awake hours before the other 2 no matter how much I had to drink or what time I went to bed.
