GIG IN THE WOODS 2 - THE AFTERMATH

The following morning after the gig I went back into the woods to clean up all the mess that we had made. Everything was collected up and everything that could be burned went onto the remains of the fire.

There was a couple of bits of rope in the trees and a light that I couldn't get to but overall I (with the help of Tammy) cleaned up a lot more mess than we had made.

While cleaning up a man came to us who turned out to be a local council person. He couldn't complain because we were cleaning up the mess. It was also obvious we were never going to hold one of these events again after being discovered by the police.

He then tried to make out that we could have set fire to the woods. This was pathetic to say the least as the fire was in a big clearing and in a circle of big rocks. After that there was not a lot to say so he left.

About a week or so later the following article was in the Leicester Mercury Newspaper.

OK I have no complaints with this, what we did was wrong and we did made a noise and they were not to know we were not teenagers or that there was far less than 70 of us.

The party was not "dispersed by police" at all as they sat parked outside the woods following the fly over by the helicopter. A simple "can you turn the music off" would have been far quicker and easier. People remained in the woods until about 4am.

Here we get some credit for cleaning the mess up but later on the article tries to make out the opposite.

Completely wrong.....the police never even set foot in the wood. I even made the comment to them that I hope I would never have to use them in a real emergency.

Finally the most laughable part of all, Council person Tony Gillard trying to justify his sad existence with one can, one bottle and one light.........I think he went up there with a newspaper photographer hoping to get loads of shots of destruction and litter. This was the best that he could do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway the gigs in the woods were over, Jonah's Coat searched for a while trying to find a place to do another onebut the band split up in the next 12 months.

They were the 2 most memorable events of 2007!!!!!!!!!!!
