Following the Success of the first gig in the woods it was obvious that there was going to be a gig in the woods 2. This time there was a better stage, bigger shelter and I went up early in the morning to saw up as many fallen logs as I could find.
Thanks to the better weather and the news of the first gig being spread by word of mouth there was a far higher turn out. I met one couple who had come all the way from Chesterfield (roughly 50 miles away !!!!!)
My cocktail for the evening was Raki and redbull which as strange as it sounds was not bad at all.
As before there was several bands in the lineup the names of which have long been lost in an alcohol induced fog. Jonah's coat who organized both events hit the stage at around 10pm.
Unlike the others who were highly intoxicated from early on "juice" always seemed to have that "professional look" about him.
Myself and Kieron........................
As before I gathered up enough logs to keep the fire burning well into the following day.
Frontman Jae Wardle gave an outstanding performance.
A great night was had by all, but unknown to us at the time the band had got louder speakers than the first gig. I had hoped the trees would muffle the sound like last time but when going down the shop to fetch some more beer you could clearly hear music coming from the center of the woods.
Just after midnight I done a short video clip of the band and panned around the crowd.........
As before there was a lot of highly intoxicated people stumbling around and getting lost. Tammy (pictured next to me above in the "raki" photo) shouted me saying that "the moon was moving". Then all of a sudden everyone looked up to see a police helicopter coming overhead.
(I would love to have seen what it looked like from up there)
We knew then that the party had been discovered, I walked 2 people up the footpath to the road with my flashlight to discover a police car parked at the top. They told me that there had been dozens of complaints about the noise.
Since they were not going to go down to the woods I managed to convince them to let me go back down to tell the band to turn the music off. 5 minutes later I came back assuring them the band had finished and we would clean up the mess again which we had done before. They seemed happy with that and left.........
It was probably just as well the police spoken to me because some of the others were drunk and abusive. One person who shall remain nameless was dropping full bottles of beer onto the fire and making them explode. The resulting clean up was made far more difficult.....
It was clear that the gigs in the woods were over...............
