TAUPO - NEW ZEALAND

On one hand it was good to get out of the city but on the other a lot of the countryside looked no different to back home. Cleaner and less populated but still the same, when I got out the bus at Taupo even the air smelled the same. Noticed that I was probably one of the oldest in the hostel.

On the first full day I walked all the way to the top of mount Tauhara. This took the best part of 6 hours round trip and it was hot and shadeless until the last 40 minutes. 2 others who were up there looked at me in disbelief after telling then I had walked all the way from the town center.

The view at the top was worth it............

Obviously after that I didn't feel like doing a lot, at night a group of girls were watching the DVDs they got from going on a skydiving trip. This seemed to be the main topic of conversation in the hostel. It was not something I ever felt like doing.........

Found out that night that New Zeland TV is as bad as Australia

On the last day I headed up to what were described as waterfalls that turned out to be just heavy rapids................

Watched a bit of bungy jumping..........headed north to Rotorua the following day.
