ROTORUA - NEW ZEALAND

The bus to Rotorua only just made it as it slowed right down for the last 20 minutes of the journey. I thought the smell was from the engines when I got out but it was from the geothermal activity at various points around the city.

Spent a lot of the first afternoon having a look round, this vent was in the middle of a park. The weather was very hot and humid followed by rain, took refuge in the hostel.

Room got invaded by loads of ants!!!!!!!

Found a gap in the rain to go on a cablecar ride up a big hill on the edge of town.

Great view from the top and there was a luge ride with 3 different tracks. Rained again and I got soaked on the way back.

The final day I went walking through some local woodland which was one of the few real native woodland areas I seen in the country. Complete with the big ferns........................
