Like most city's in the Philippines it was not the best of places but I was on the island of Bohol to see things outside the city. First on my list was to see the Tarsiers near some villages. It was a very small place where they were kept. A guide takes you in an enclosed area where they are kept for about 10 - 15 minutes. Unlike most wildlife these keep nice and still for the camera.
They had a bit of a visitors center but it was very small and you had seen it all in just a few minutes.
Back at the city I had a day checking out the island of Panglao but quickly figured out it was a place for scuba divers and tourists with money to burn.
I jumped on a bus and got off at a small village called Loboc. The village seemed very quiet at night. I walked past a small group of people drinking round a table, got talking and ended up getting invited to a karoke night at a hotel a few miles north of town.
Before leaving the island of Bohol I went to visit the Chocolate hills. Worth seeing and a good view from the top but not quiet worth the massive hype the Phlippines tourist industry gives it.
It was around this time I found out a ferry had sunk the morning I was due to go on one which made me think a bit. I headed south to the island of Camiguin but didn't arrive until after dark due to delays.
I stayed on the north coast for 2 nights, the first full day I hired a mountain bike and done a full circuit of the island (roughly 40 miles). It was not until I was 10 miles down the road I remembered there was no lock so I couldn't stop and leave the bike anywhere!!!!
I moved into the town of Mambajao and went towards mount Hibok-hibok the map in my guidebook was not very good and worse still the pictures I taken did not come out well because of the dull weather.
2 days of walking and biking wiped me out but I had an interesting last night talking to the locals in a bar who insisted on trying to teach me the local language.
Not wanting to backtrack I headed south by ferry to Mindanao...
