At the ferry port you had to buy 3 tickets at 3 different ticket booths. The ferry ticket itself, the terminal tax and an environmental tax. Then there was 3 people employed to check each ticket in turn.
Boracay was the most touristy place that I went to in the country but the locals seemed as friendly as they did everywhere else. It was only the second place where I found a proper backpackers and met more than a couple of other people. The first night a group of about 6 of us went out to nice but quiet beach bar. Nothing heavy just a couple of drinks and the usual backpacker conversation.
I was thinking of hiring a mountain bike but the island was so small I could see the whole lot in 2 days walking which I did. Apart from that I did struggle to find things to see and do not being a beach or water person. The sea front was a typical mix of overpriced eating places and watch vendors however compaired to some places in Thailand it was quiet.
I was going to leave after seeing the island but stopped for a couple of days because of some massive rainstorms.
In my opinion Boracay was a bit overrated after seeing and hearing all the hype about the place. It was not a bad place however and worth a couple of days at least.
I have since questioned however if it was worth nearly a week of lengthy bus/ferry rides and some very dull and purely functional towns to get there from Sequijor and from there to Bohol.........
