KRAKOW - POLAND

After sleeping rough in a field we woke up to find ourselves near some clean looking town, we then headed to the town of Krakow. After taking ages to find somewhere to stay we went to have an explore round town.
We ended up in a nearby bar which had only a handful of people in it and was boring. When we left I assumed we were going somewhere better but the Cannabis smokers just wanted to go back to the hotel for a smoke. At this point I had enough and kicked off at the others, I didn't come away on holiday to sit in a hotel watching other people get stoned. I knew it was not going to be a party every night but I was expecting a lot more than this.

My analysis of the trip so far was as follows.

1) We arrived in Amsterdam with the intention of going straight to Prague which begs the question of why we didn't just fly straight to Prague in the first place. The answer is just so the smokers could stock up on Cannabis.

2) Sleeping rough in Amsterdam could have been avoided with a little research, as a result we felt bad all the next day and done nothing productive.

3) Everyone who I had met since who has been to Prague said it was a great place with great nightlife. The reason we seen non of that was because we followed a hotel owner who's place was obviously out the way of all the action.

4) Crossing the border into Poland with no idea of where we were going or what we were going to do when we got there.

5) Feeling tired from spending countless hours on buses and trains.

The whole thing was just a random wander and I hated it, I have since had countless arguments about planning with others who went on the trip. By planning I mean a few minutes research on a place before you arrive there. Looking at where the best place to stay in Prague for example before we got there would have made a massive difference to the 2 days we were there.

Then there was the human factor, 8 people with 8 different opinions and it seemed I was not having my fair share of the input. Golly seemed to be making all the decisions and it was him I had the most problems with. When we got to Zakopane the next day he wanted to cross the border into Slovakia straight the way when Zakopane looked a perfectly good place to stay. We would have been in the same situation as we were when we first crossed into Poland which was just stupid. One of the lads would later describe him as a control freak.

The following day I was assured we would be going places that were a bit more exciting, the next stop was Zakopane and the holiday did improve from there.
