AIRLIE BEACH & BRISBANE - AUSTRALIA
Airlie beach was one of them places I should have stayed a few days longer. Great location and great accommodation (that is if you ignore the fact the fan on the ceiling was only inches above my head if I sat upright on the top bunk !!!!)
Met a good crowd of people and had a couple of good nights out. It was a bit of a party town but not so full on and in your face like Melbourne and Cairns. Despite this I had the idea in my head that Brisbane would be a lot better. So I left and went on a 19 hour bus ride (6pm - 1pm) into the Big city.
I didn't feel too great after that but went down the coast the next day with an American from my hostel. I liked the look of Surfers paradise and made it my next destination. Overall however I didn't like Brisbane, I don't know what it was but it was hardly a memorable few days.
The one highlight and one of the places I wanted to visit before I even arrived in Australia was the zoo. I'm not a massive zoo person but it was a great day out. They had all the nasty snakes as well as the Croc show pictured above.
After that it was a train ride down to Surfers..........
